Should we removed decorations for threads?

@apps What? No! This is one of fedilab's best features :blobheartraccoon:

@dennix @apps Totally agree. I am only occasionally using fedilab, but having these sequence markers is one of the main reasons doing so, honestly. Visual indication of the communication flow is pure usability, keep it! - I might be a minority, being socialized in usenet times with beloved console readers like slrn, but yes, let's make loooong discussions accessible again! 😊

@dennix
I second this, its definitely one of the most useful features, please don't remove it.

Two lines on the capture is not representative, it should be a capture of a complex thread.

@apps I understand if people don't like the look. In this case I'd say to make it only one color.

Or if you want to keep the differenciation, two slight variations of the same color ?

(And still colorblind friendly if it is possible.)

@otso
Vertical bars on the left with the indentation.

@apps

OK. but I don't know what "indentation" is (I can find out on my own) has something to do with teeth maybe (dental)?

@apps
I answered no, but it would be good to have a limit, in order to avoid to fill the screen with decoration.

@apps
You mean the lines that clarify the relationships between posts? No. I miss them in the Mastodon web app! Those are useful!

@apps for blind color people (8% of the polulation), it's a pain.

@apps No. Also, thread mode is the only way to get fedilab to show things in any comprehensible context. Could we get that oldest first threaded view by default on the feeds?

@apps
Is there a way to make it auto-hide ?

And show it with à slide from left ?

@apps
This is why I love Fedilab !
I prefer using Fedilab on my phone than using the webapp on my PC even if it's a pain to write on a mobile phone.

Even if I'm French and writing English is a torture thanks to autocorrecting (a devilish invention to say the least).

@apps
Maybe modify the indentation a little bit:
- if you use a colored area instead of a line, the color code is wider without using additional space
- limit the max no. of displayed indents by displaying the first and last two witha dotted area in-between, for example
- make the width configurable, with 0 == off

My reference for good threading in this type of app is the android reddit client boost: play.google.com/store/apps/det
It's very clear who's responding to whom, long press collapses whole subtrees, etc
