Fedilab Apps

Would you be interested by a full step by step on how to use our repo to get updates immediately?

It will cover all situations (when coming from FDroid or Google Play). Explain more about beta releases, backup data before switching etc.

We can even make this part translatable to reach more people.

@apps
I'd really like to see Fedilab come to Linux phone. When I get my Linux phone working right, that's where I'm going. I'll miss Fedilab.

@apps
Yes, I certainly could load just about every app I have on my android phone, and completely defeat the purpose of having a Linux phone.

@apps
Yes, but please don't drop Google Play support.

@apps
just double setup just in case

@apps

I'm not familiar with your pending work, and how much effort would be involved, and what else would need to suffer if this was worked on.

Would it be possible to present your surveys in a way that forces us to make decisions? I fear in their present form, they resemble more of a "Would you like an ice cream?" question to a bunch of kids.

@katzenberger
The purpose is just to know if this is something that can interest. This is only a first step. But for a such tutorial, few hours of work are needed.

@apps

I see. Thank you for the clarification.

I just switched my installation from the official f-droid repo to your f-droid repo.

It was as easy as following the two first FAQs:
1) Add the fedilab repo to the f-droid app.
2a) Backup current fedilab settings.
2b) Uninstall fedilab.
2c) In f-droid find fedilab again. Choose the fedilab repo as the preferred one and re-install fedilab.
2d) Start fedilab and import settings from the export in step 2.a.
2e) Be amazed that it just works. Even the timeline positions are restored 🥰

@apps
I felt a little lost during/after settings export:
1) I missed the notification in the notification area about the export, so was not sure if it already exported. I was expecting an in-app notification.
2) I did not know where to (which folder) the settings were exported and what the file was called. Found it by tapping the notification. It might be beneficial to just mention the filename and that it was placed in the downloads folder.

@WildpflanzenImNorden
Thanks, we will improve that part.
