Fedilab Apps

We are tracking a bug where the app crashes suddenly.
We would like to know the action before this crash.
If it happens to you, please could describe in comments? Thank-you.

Example: - When posting after adding several media.
- Etc.

@apps@toot.fedilab.app

I experienced #Fedilab 3.22.2 closing without any error message on using the home timeline and displaying single posts.

But... instance is "under construction", so these crashes may not be seen by usual users.

@apps@toot.fedilab.app

Just experienced #Fedilab closing.

* Wrote a new post
* Scrolled up the home timeline to see my new post
* Touched the new post to open it

Fedilab is just closing.

Again: #Instance is running #Mammuthus (my ongoing project), so it is possible also, that the #API result may differ from expectation. But of course, in this case an error message or similar would be better instead of just an app closing all of a sudden.

Today it was Fedilab 3.22.2 on Android 7.

@nick Could you enable crash reports?

@apps@toot.fedilab.app

Weird. Murphy is active.

First: I had to reconnect #Fedilab with the account again. (This happens already before on this device with a previous version of Fedilab. It losts all account data. Today i updated to 3.22.2 via F-Droid).

After reconnecting the account, enabled crash report in the settings, wrote again a new post, scrolled up, touched it... and this time it was displayed without ending the app... 🙄

@apps@toot.fedilab.app

Ah, now...

#Fedilab ended on touching the previous post. And looks again, that all account data is gone...

Difference noticed so far: The crashing post contains two hashtags, the other none.

Btw.: Where to find a crash report?

@nick In Settings > Interface, you have to turn on "Enable crash reports".

@apps@toot.fedilab.app

I did that... :-)

But then... on a crash... or sudden end... where to find the report?

Or is it expected to be shown directly on a crash?

Then i guess, #Fedilab is ending all of sudden before reaching the crash report code...

@nick
You should have a dialog asking for sending the crash report

@apps@toot.fedilab.app

I saw nothing... :-|

Fedilab just closed itself...

@apps
I'm not met with this issue, I have a lot of shares and images too. I'm using Android 12. Maybe different versions affected.

@apps I think I might have seen this when hitting back to my main feed while a thread was loading (shortly after opening it, going "nah, not that interested" while it was still loading), but I haven't seen any strong repeatability so I haven't reported it.

@apps
Hey! I don't know if it was related to the one you are currently investigating, but fedilab crashed after switching to my pixelfed account, and every time I tried to open the app after that. I cleared the data to reconnect and now it seems to work even when switching to pixelfed

@seliaste
We fixed that bug this morning through a report.

@apps
Usually when I just bring it forward by selecting it from list of open apps. It just happened, first time opening it today.

@apps
My app only crashed once after trying to view a settings page that didn't exist (my account was a redirect)

@apps
I'm not quite sure, I could try and replicate it and send a proper crash report

@apps
You should have just received a crash report
But basically, Fedilab crashes after I go to account settings for a redirect account and click the confirm button, because on redirect accounts, you should not normally be able to even get to the account settings page

You have an extremely stable app otherwise! I've been enjoying it a lot!

@apps
It crashes every time I long press a link. On Redmi note 8 pro. Version 3.21.2
